John Brendel Jr., MD, DABPM
John Brendel, MD, rceived his medical degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed his internship and residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center–Charlottesville. Dr. Brendel is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Personal Philosophy: A mind for innovative medicine and a heart for healing Dr. Brendel believes that in order for a patient to have the best possible chance for relief from chronic pain you must employ a comprehensive approach and maintain a continuity of care with multiple providers. He spends time educating patients on the reason they have pain and the most up-to-date treatment options. He wants all patients to enjoy life and live with less pain. Dr Brendel’s specialty is Interventional Pain Medicine. He strives to continue learning and teaching new techniques in the field of pain medicine. His clinical practice is enhanced by the ongoing research and outcome analysis conducted by the clinic. He and his staff have extensive experience in virtually every leading-edge pain technology and treatment available. Some procedures that are frequently performed in his centers are:
  • Therapeutic and diagnostic nerve blocks
  • discography
  • epidural steroid injections
  • non-surgical repair of herniated disc pain
  • radiofrequency nerve pain disruption
  • facet joint injections
  • sacroiliac joint injections
  • spinal cord stimulation
  • trigger point/bursa steroid injections
  • vertebroplasty
These treatments are done with little pain and occasionally with sedation for patient comfort. All procedures are done under digital fluoroscopy (live x-ray). Dr. Brendel has interest in and enjoys teaching, photography, kids activities and sports- “Coaching-Watching-Cheering,” travel and outdoor activities.
